Catamaran works in three simple steps.

We strip away the fluff from language acquisition, and give you tools to actually succeed. It might be hard, but it works.

Maximize the native content you consume

Long-form exposure to native content that you can understand. You don't need to know the translation of each word or sentence, you just need to grasp the meaning. This is the foundation of language acqusition.

  • Long form exposure
The amount of native content you consume is the most important factor in learning a new language. Catamaran doesn't believe in bite-sized chunks. We believe in the full meal deal.
  • Meaning you understand
Language that's too difficult won't help you. You need to understand what you're listening to. That's why Catamaran uses images and context clues to help convey meaning.

Stay engaged with interesting content

Language acquisition should not be a chore, it should be fun. Motivation is highest at the beginning of a language learning journey, but what happens when that motivation fades? Captivating content is key to keep you coming back for more comprehensible input!

  • Topics on EVERYTHING
Different people have different interests. Shouldn't a language acquisition offer content on everything?
  • Full-length stories
One-time lessons get boring fast. That's why Catamaran has engaging characters and worlds that keep you coming back for more. Don't you want to know what happens next?

Stay pointed in the right direction

The native content you're listening to just above your current level. It's hard to source this material by yourself, but Catamaran makes it easy! At the end of the day, progress requires two things:

  • Language you can understand
This is the comprehensible input from Step 1.
  • Increased Difficulty
The only way you can progress to higher levels of difficulty is through exposure to a LOT of language. This is best done by making sure that content is interesting and relevant to you.
